I hand sculpt this unique barrette from stunning mahogany wood. I then add a stunning genuine amber cabochon in a simple elegant hand-made sterling silver setting.  The amber has wonderful inclusions and is stunning when the light passes through it.

Size: Large approx. 3 3/4" size of clip: 80mm / 3 1/4" The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types.

Mahogany (ribbon-sliced) (Swietenia spp.) from Honduras - Mahogany has been used in fine furniture making and boat building for centuries and is famous for it's rich red color,  also called "Genuine Mahogany".

Our barrettes are gallery quality. We use AAA premium materials: the world's finest sustainably sourced exotic and domestic hardwoods, precious metals and gem grade gemstones. Each piece is lovingly hand crafted one at a time in our northern Michigan studio.

We've been making wood barrettes for over 20 years. Our wooden barrettes are all made from SOLID wood.  **Never a thin layer of veneer over a cheaper base wood**
They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint.

Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. We  use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all our  barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.
